Behind the Design"A child can draw a tulip in four lines. I've spent months exploring how those four lines can become something else entirely."
— Jennifer Hunold
Tulips is Jennifer's first collection built in a vectorized format — a shift that opened up new possibilities for scale, flexibility, and variation that her earlier designs couldn't accommodate.
The subject chose itself. Tulips were Jennifer's favorite flower to draw as a child, captivating in their beauty despite — or because of — their simplicity. As a child, she drew a tulip in four lines: the U of the outer petals, two arcs from top corners down to the center, and a final arc closing the back. That economy of form stayed with her.
This collection grew from exploring interpretations of the flower – how it grows, its individual parts, and its energy. Its natural regality took shape as the “halo” tulip, with a radiant crown at its top, and the “queen” tulip, capturing the growth from bulb to bud. Others returned to her childhood drawings, reduced to their most essential lines.
The result is a body of designs that play the same subject across a range, from quiet ditsy patterns that sit softly in a room to bold, oversized prints that own the wall.
